Arc of Elms Image 1
In Herbert Park the tall Wheatley Elm trees stretch from one side of the road to the other forming an arc as the top branches meet. The site of the Great Irish International Exhibition 1907. Named after Sidney Herbert the Earl of Pembroke's father. Some of the original features of this lovely Edwardian park remain, but the spectacular arc is gone, felled in 1984 due to Dutch Elm disease.
