The Royal Hibernian Hotel
was located in Dawson Street for two centuries, presidents, princesses, politicians, stars of stage and screen have visited or stayed. The three roomed Lafayette Restaurant was famous in its day, but changeing fortunes in the 1970s brought an end to the oldest hotel in Ireland, closing its doors for good in 1982, razed to the ground the following year for a shopping mall The Royal Hibernian Way.
